Pulsar Symbion DXR50 Multispectral Thermal Binoculars with LRF

The Pulsar Symbion LRF DXR50 Multispectral Thermal Binoculars bring together thermal imaging, 4K digital viewing and precise distance measurement in a single, premium observation device. Designed for demanding outdoor use, the DXR50 allows you to switch between thermal and digital imaging to suit changing light levels and observation requirements.

With a 640 × 480 thermal sensor, a 50mm F1.0 thermal lens and a built-in laser rangefinder, these multispectral binoculars are particularly well suited to long-range observation. A rugged magnesium-alloy housing, electronic image stabilisation, onboard recording and wireless connectivity complete this versatile system.

High-performance 640 × 480 thermal imaging

The DXR50 features an uncooled thermal sensor with a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels and a 12μm pixel pitch. Its thermal sensitivity is specified at less than 35mK NETD, with system NETD rated below 18mK. This helps reveal subtle temperature differences and distinguish heat signatures against their surroundings.

Thermal imaging works independently of visible light, making it useful in darkness and in conditions where visibility is reduced by fog, rain or vegetation. The DXR50 offers a thermal detection range of up to 2,300 metres under suitable conditions.

Its 50mm F1.0 germanium thermal lens and 4× base magnification are designed for distance-focused observation. Digital magnification extends up to 32×, helping you inspect areas of interest more closely. As with all thermal devices, maximum detection distance is not the same as the distance at which a target can be positively identified.

4K digital day and night vision

Alongside its thermal channel, the Pulsar Symbion DXR50 incorporates a 4K CMOS digital sensor with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels. Its digital channel supports full-colour viewing during daylight and twilight, with black-and-white night vision available when used with the integrated infrared illuminator.

The digital channel has a 50mm F1.8 lens and magnification from 6.5× to 26×. Digital zoom settings provide additional flexibility when examining distant subjects.

The integrated 850nm infrared illuminator assists digital viewing in darkness. Its focusable design allows the illumination to be adjusted to suit the observation distance and scene. Performance will vary with ambient conditions, target characteristics and the use of infrared illumination.

Multispectral viewing with Picture-in-Picture

One of the key advantages of the Symbion DXR50 is the ability to combine thermal and digital observation. Switch between the two channels as conditions change, or use the multispectral Picture-in-Picture mode to display one channel in the main view and the other in a smaller secondary window.

This helps you use thermal imaging to locate a heat source while referring to the digital image for additional visual context. It is a practical feature when observing wildlife, scanning terrain or assessing distant objects in changing light conditions.

Integrated 1,500m laser rangefinder

The built-in laser rangefinder measures distances of up to 1,500 metres, with a stated accuracy of ±1 metre. It provides useful distance information without requiring a separate rangefinding device.

The rangefinder uses a 905nm laser and is specified as Class 1 laser equipment. Actual measuring performance depends on the target's characteristics and environmental conditions.

By combining thermal detection, digital viewing and distance measurement in one unit, the DXR50 provides a comprehensive observation tool for users who need more than a conventional thermal monocular.

Electronic image stabilisation and viewing controls

Electronic image stabilisation helps reduce the effects of hand movement, particularly when using higher magnification. This supports steadier viewing when scanning distant areas or following movement.

The binoculars feature a 1920 × 1080 AMOLED display for a detailed viewing image. Nine thermal colour palettes allow you to adjust the thermal presentation to suit the scene and your preferences. Different palettes can be useful for detecting heat signatures, examining contrast or making extended observation more comfortable.

The ergonomic control layout is designed to make focusing, zooming and menu navigation straightforward during use in the field.

Recording, storage and wireless connectivity

The Symbion DXR50 can capture photographs and video with audio, saving recordings to its built-in 64GB memory. This provides space to retain observations without needing a separate recording device.

Dual-band Wi-Fi supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections, while Bluetooth is also supported. Compatibility with Pulsar's Stream Vision 2 app allows supported connectivity and media functions through a compatible mobile device. Stream Vision Ballistics is also supported for compatible ballistic functions.

USB Type-C connectivity supports external power, providing another option for longer observation sessions.

Rugged construction and extended battery life

Built around a magnesium-alloy housing, the DXR50 is designed for regular use in demanding outdoor environments. Its IP67 protection rating provides protection against dust ingress and water immersion under the specified test conditions. The manufacturer specifies an operating temperature range of -25°C to 50°C.

Power is supplied by two external APS5 battery packs. Pulsar specifies up to 10 hours of operation at 22°C when using two APS5 packs, although actual battery life depends on temperature, active viewing channels, Wi-Fi, recording, infrared illumination and rangefinder use.

The binoculars also feature a standard ¼-inch tripod socket, with support for an ARCA-SWISS-compatible tripod adapter.
